Earth Day in Moultonborough, NH
For those of us who live in the region, there's no better place on Earth Day (April 22nd, 2022) to reflect the beauty and complexity of nature on this planet as there is here in New Hampshire. From the ocean views and beaches of Hampton, to the Mountain views of Conway, we have it all here in our lovely corner of the country. Taking a brisk walk in the morning on the hiking trails in Moultonboro is an activity that many visit the state to enjoy.
Earth Day is a good opportunity for us to think about the serenity of nature, and the importance of protecting our lands. It’s also a good day to take action. It doesn’t always have to be publicized, nor praised. During your morning hike, you could bring in a bag to remove trash left behind by visitors (including you). If you are preparing for a turkey hunt, perhaps while scoping a site, do the same as well as making sure to clean up after yourself. Visiting Lake Winnipesaukee or one of the other lakes in the area? Take a look at any floating garbage and take the time to remove it and protect our lakes, and our visiting loons.
Little things like this have an impact if everyone does it. It’s not a political statement to enjoy our environment, and we are spoiled here by a plethora of sites and activities in the Lakes region, but unfortunately, the past few years we have seen an increase in garbage left behind and less attention paid to protecting our land.
We invite everyone to do their part in keeping our town, and our region, clean and safe for all, while at the same time, protecting the same planet that we all call home.
